Only a 20 minute Bicycle Ride from Boat of Garten, Loch Garten Osprey Centre offers the chance to get close to some of Scotland’s most amazing wildlife. Why not take a picnic and include this on a day out on the speyside way?
When ospreys returned to breed in Scotland, this ancient Caledonian pineforest is where they choose to come. The Loch Garten Osprey Centre provides the chance to see these magnificent birds as well as get close to an array of forest birds and red squirrels.
There are family activities on offer and special events throughout the year with friendly staff on hand to tell you more about the wildlife and the Abernethy forest. The centre also has a gift shop, refreshments and a picnic area.
Cycle the woodland trails through this gorgeous reserve for the chance to see red squirrels, dragonflies and crested tits.
Abernethy Forest includes the biggest single remnant of Caledonian pinewood left in the UK. Over a period of 200 years, we hope to almost double the area of the reserve’s forest landscape. It’s a truly memorable place to visit and was named Nature Reserve of the Year in the BBC Countryfile Magazine Awards Competition, 2017.
The Osprey Centre is open daily, 10 am–6 pm from April to end of August. Last entry is 5pm. The wider Abernethy reserve is open all year.
